These waters were dark, chaotic, and boundless. God wanted to create something new, but struggled to decide what. Frustrated, He threw His holy mace into the Waters. From this divine act, a tree emerged—a fir tree, to be exact.
This fir tree became the mythological Column of the World or Tree of Life. It’s a magical, upright tree, a sacred axis around which the entire world was later built. This legend reflects the fir tree’s timeless significance as a symbol of creation, order, and new beginnings.
Much like the Tree of Life, the Christmas tree symbolizes renewal and hope. As we gather around it each holiday season, we are reminded of its roots in mythology and its connection to the cycle of life. Adorning it with lights and ornaments mirrors the act of bringing life, light, and joy into what once was dark and chaotic.
