Part of The Muses, a collection of ten works exploring ten distinct emotions and states of mind, Muse V is the frozen muse — suspended in a moment where feeling still exists, but can no longer move freely.

She embodies emotional paralysis, distance and the instinct to protect oneself by becoming still. Beneath the surface there is intensity, but it is held back, preserved almost intact, as though time itself had stopped around a feeling too difficult to release.

The frozen state is both defense and confinement. What appears cold from the outside may hide an entire inner world — emotions that have not disappeared, but have simply been locked beneath layers of silence and restraint.

Muse V speaks about those moments when we detach in order to survive, when vulnerability turns into stillness and emotion becomes inaccessible even to ourselves. She is not empty or indifferent. She is feeling in suspension — waiting, perhaps, for the moment when the ice finally begins to melt.
