Part of The Muses, a collection of ten works exploring ten distinct emotions and states of mind, Muse X is the deconstructed muse — a presence that emerged rather than being intentionally drawn.

The painting began as a purely abstract composition, built through instinctive gestures, spontaneous marks and layers of color. Somewhere within those seemingly random brushstrokes, a face began to reveal itself. I chose not to impose a figure onto the painting, but to follow what was already there, allowing the muse to surface naturally from the abstraction.

Fragmented, elusive and almost unfinished, the face exists somewhere between presence and disappearance. It is less a portrait than a psychological apparition — a fleeting state of mind caught inside color and movement.

In Muse X, the muse is not idealized or clearly defined. She is discovered, dismantled and reconstructed through intuition, becoming an image of the way emotions themselves often appear: unexpectedly, imperfectly, and before we are able to name them.
